Here are a few recent examples of projects where PROAPTIV’s technical expertise and passion for delivering mission oriented results have been realized.  These project past performances demonstrate how innovation, strong technical leadership and thorough understanding of the customers needs resulted in the success of their mission.

Federal Agency: Datacenter Capacity Issue

Problem:

Federal Government customer experienced significant datacenter capacity issues.

PROAPTIV Solution:

Analyzed existing physical servers determine the extent to which virtualization could be used to reduce datacenter demandsUsed IBM Bladeservers and VMware’s ESX and VirtualCenter products to develop a comprehensive design for a scalable virtualization platform

Incorporated over 250TB of Hitachi Tagma storage connected via an enterprise class storage area network (SAN)Included a redundant IP network architecture that ensures high availability through the elimination of single points of failure (SPOF).Incorporated VMware high availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) and server clusters to ensure system reliability and availability exceeding 99.999 %.

Supported efforts to established policies and SOP’s for the support of the virtual environment

Results:

With over 3000 virtual machines now running in this environment, PROAPTIV’s engineering efforts have resulted in a demonstrated savings in excess of $38M over the span of 4 years.

Federal Agency: Server Consolidation

Problem:

A federal agency was seeking a replacement for over 70 physical servers, and a costly CITRIX Terminal Server infrastructure.

PROAPTIV Solution:

Foster the initiative and lead in the design, development and deployment of a secure regional data center virtualization hosting platform

Comprised of VMware’s Virtual Infrastructure (VI) 3 server virtualization platform, NetApp’s storage architecture and IBM’s BladeCenter High Density Blade Servers. Utilized FIPS compliant encryption appliancesNetApp clustering, snapshot and snap mirror backup and disaster recovery capabilities.Incorporated over 140TB of raw storage space and included full fault tolerance and high availability features to ensure 99.999% reliability availability. Projected user base of over 1500 residing at geographically dispersed facilities.

Results:

Developed within 6 months, the new capabilities resulted in significant cost savings and in the agency’s ability to meet mission requirements. The project has served as an architectural blueprint for subsequent regional data center implementations within this environment. PROAPTIV, a subcontractor on this effort, was retained as the lead engineering firm.
